Baseball is tops. I like football and hockey tho it is hard to keep up with all the names we don't hear everyday. Basketball needs to get further away from the hip hop. Love fishing the eastern sierras. Love reading. And am full of useless facts that have no rhyme nor reason.

  1. I wouldn't be surprised either way. Remember how upset he was at the team over the Josh Hamilton issue. He may want to make the team pay the money. Even if it is in insurance premiums. Retiring now he would forfeit almost 25% of his contract( almost 1 1/2 of five).but as mentioned he has always heard his own drummer. My guess is if he doesn't want to go through the surgery again He will say something like " going to shut it down and see if rest and rehab will heal it". If that's his approach we will see his true colors. He may hang it up. His competitive fire is gone. He has never trusted his teammates to make a play behind him. He pitches scared in my eyes. Be interesting to see how many shut down innings he's had the last couple of years. Or how many of his losses came in games that he had the lead in. Hard to quantify these things but to me, he just hasn't passed the eyeball test. His B/S ratio has always been poor. His game coming out of the all star break against the redsox was one the best games I have ever seen anybody pitch. I think he had an 0-2 count on 12 hitters. Watching him have a game like that is why he pissed me off so much. He would occasionally have dominant innings but rarely full games. He had the ability but not the heart. Let the Tropeano/Ruczinski era begin!
  2. For those you didn't know, I am Stradlings brother. Our dad absolutely loved baseball.and understood the game better than most people do. When he relocated to ND he started to watch Twins baseball. Thankfully the Twins have played a good brand of baseball for 25 years or so. They don't always win but the play the game right. We recently bought Appletv for hi. So he could watch the Twins before the Angel game came on. As I recall the Guidry story, Reggie had hit three homers and when dad mentioned that Reggie was having a good night, Guidry replied " he only got two off me". LOL what else can you say? I remember dad taking us all to a game in which Mike Witt struck out 17 if memory serves. He always swore that Bob Feller was as good as any he had seen in his 83 years. Even though he had some confusion issues over the last 8-9 months he was crystal clear when he said about Mike Trout "that kid is GOOD"! My dad was a master of the understatement. I mean John Cleese took his tips from my dad. And I only recall three players that he got excited about watching or talking about. Bob Feller, Nolan Ryan and Mike Trout. The last few years his comments about most players were " he used to be on the Twins". "Twins can't afford him". "Miggy kills the Twins". Thank you all for this small indulgence. Baseball is the perfect game loved by the perfect dad.
  3. In all fairness he pitched probably his best game as an Angel last night and Joe gets the win. If we could count on something similar to this during the postseason we would be unbeatable.
  4. I read an article suggesting the Angels go after Jay Bruce. What would be fair to land him? And do you try to get him and Cueto in a mega deal?
  5. As badly as this team has played at times this year, we are still a two week hot streak from putting every other team behind us. Simply have to hit better with RISP and get positive ABs from 6-9. Seems simple enough but we all know the other team gets paid too. Zero confidence in CJ extending our winning streak. CJ is the best there is at keeping both teams in the game.
  6. Mark Ryal is the STAR of the calling all theAngelsvideo before every game! 1986 western division champs!
  7. Tulo is a very nice player but his health issues are too much. Aybar just needs to take some"focus factor" because he does some brain dead things sometimes. I thought he had turned a corner last year but has regressed abit this year. I want to see Jered pitch in the world series. His brother Jeff was lights out for the Cards when he went to series after being left for dead. Joyce will turn it around nd get to his career averages. Hopefully Krauss and Perez will give us a little pop that was expected from other spots. Our pitching has been pretty solid. We are getting better and better. Just want to make playoffs and play our best baseball in October. Post is a little disjointed but so is our team.
  8. Just a hunch it was trout. No malice intended of course.
  9. It wasn't Hamilton because it wasn't a coke bottle.
  10. One run in Two innings of relief saving our bullpen for the tough Houston series. Forget Wilk for minute. Who the hell was that wearing hectors uni for seven innings today? That's who I thought we would see more of last year. I remember him Dominating us when he was with chi sox. A lot of his starts would have looked like this if Mike had taken him Out an inning earlier a few times last year. Maybe he has turned a corner? He really struggled on opening day and only gave up 3 runs. And I think if Hamilton is playing he catches that ball that led to runs 2-3. I will take six innings per of sub 4.00 era from Hector all year.
  11. Josh needs to rehab with Robert Downey jr. Dude hit 43 homers 2112! And had a poor second half! We had every reason to think we were going to get a solid player. But he has been difficult to watch.
