The Official Defending Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings Thread for 2013-2013

The 7th dman has helped negate the Blues ability to wear down the Kings defense and their ability to effectively bring the puck out of their own zone. They have also been better at finding the passing lanes against the aggressive forecheck.

really didn't like the first period at all tonight -- EXCEPT -- the fact we escaped with a 0-0 tie.

As much as the third period Monday night was played at the Blues' end of the ice -- tonight's first period was played almost entirely at the Kings' end.

Blues really had some chances and the Kings defense seem to just ward them off......the problem with a period like that is that it's almost like defending a constant power play.

you can fight it for so long and then the weariness sets in and you just can keep that level of effort up the entire time.

sort of like killing the penalty and defending the power play only to have the opposition score within a minute of being back at full strength.......sometimes before the penalty killing squad can get off the ice on a line change.......how often do you see that in a game?   that's sort of what the first period felt like........

Kings need to come out in the second period just as aggressively as the Blues did in the first.  Have to change direction of this game now.

14 seconds in we take 1-0 lead but it was the Blues being the aggressor all period long again.

St. Louis has really out-played the Kings tonight -- Quick has been sharp in goal tonight.

Good news it's 1 to 1 despite the Kings being out-played and now we move to third period with the Kings having come alive with about a minute left in the second and now come out in the third period with 1:55 minutes of a power play -- so the Kings need to really capitalize on that, score quickly to take the lead and then hang on like they've been doing all night.

I'd like to see a Kings' third period like Monday night -- certainly some of the best Kings' play in a period of this season.

If we could get out of St. Louis winning this one, it would be pay-back for that Game One loss where the Kings out-played the Blues and lost it on the fluke goal on the stolen (given away) puck behind the Kings goal.

Jim Fox on now talking about the Vancouver melt down in having been swept by San Jose Sharks..........the sweep should really shake things up in Vancouver -- Canucks are too good of a franchise to be down like this........Canucks are 1-8 in the playoffs the past two seasons.

yeah -- this entire series -- every time Hitchcock calls a Blues time out, they seem to come out and score right away........

40 freaking seconds left.

Kings still out-played in the third period but not nearly as badly as the first two and really seemed to be keeping the Blues out of the attacking zone much of the second half of the third even if the Kings were not getting scoring chances themselves......

Kings really needed to hold on in regulation.........I'm not feeling good about OT here but we'll see.

We really need this one.

KINGS WIN!!!!!!!!!

We really stole this one from St. Louis -- they pretty much outplayed the Kings during the first and second periods and really, for much of the third.

But the Kings had their flurries in the attacking zone and made the most of their limited chances.......

IMO, makes up for Game One where the Kings outplayed St.Louis at St. Louis and ended up on the short end.

Back to Staples Friday to win this thing........we have to win Friday -- if we don't -- trouble.

St. Louis has played much better in this series and later in the season than when the Kings swept their series against them this season.

KINGS WIN.

Ducks 2-2 with Detroit. third period , about 12 minutes left last time I checked.

Voynov!!! That was awesome!

This was a terrific win in a game where they simply survived. Blues outplayed them most of the night, but the Kings made their opportunities count and didn't back down from the unrelenting pressure.

I love this team.

Great 3 on 2 rush to close the game out, especially Kopi's perfect pass to Voynov

Any other Kings' fans getting tired of Alexander Steen?

Finally, they are getting to Elliott after he allowed just 3 goals in the first 3 games (7 goals in the past 2 games).

Finish this series off, and then BEAT THE DUCKS!

PENNER!! LATE SECOND. VERY LATE!!! HITCHCOCK THOUGHT TOO LATE BUT JUST IN TIME!!

Wow.  Blues dominate the first two periods..........Kings come alive a bit towards the end of the second.  Appear headed for a 1-1 tie at the end of two when PENNER UNLOADS a prayer that goes IN!

That's sort of a morale crusher heading into the third for the Blues.......they've really got to brush that off and come out strong to beat the Kings at Staples.........going to be tough.

by the same token, Kings have been out played most of the game and really need to use that Penner goal as a boost to turn it up for the third period and end this thing. Tonight.

KINGS WIN !!!!

yeah, pretty fortunate to win this game but the Kings did come alive in the third -- St, Louis didn't have many chances second part of the third.

Quick made that one real stop when the Blues were all over the attacking zone

DEFENDING STANLEY CUP CHAMPS!!

Would love to see a Ducks/Kings playoff series -- Kings have done their part.

well, the last two Kings wins were not exactly dominating wins........

I think the Blues out-played the Kings in Games Five and Six but the sign of a good team, a championship team, is a team that can pull out a win in games like those.

St.Louis played very well. They've gotten a lot better over the season to the point they were really peaking at the right time. They played the Kings real tough in this series.

Nothing for the Blues to hang their heads about.  Good team, quality hockey players.
