Plus, Mariano Rivera is one of the classiest dudes in baseball. In an industry characterized by so many douches, I see no problem with honoring a quality human being.

Mariano is a man amongst boys.

 

One of the few living legends that this game has right now. He should be celebrated the same way Ruth or Gehrig would be if he played today.

Ripkin wasn't nearly as effective in his late 30s as Rivera was in his early 40s. 

Of course, playing 2600+ games in a row will wear anyone down.

 

Rivera is a witch, pitching like this at age 43.
