He’s got an option remaining, he’s under 30, and he has experience as a starting pitcher.  He’s also right handed, which gives some balance to the staff.  Low risk, high reward type of signing.

Yep, dude is not good.  His greatest strength he his control and while guys like that can get pretty far in the minors the lack of anything remotely close to being an out pitch has meant murder at the MLB level.

You should totally email Minasian and share those insights with him. 

As for me, I've been pretty clear.  He's bad, but he's fine as AAA filler, especially if it keeps them from rushing someone to SLC.  If they think he's more than that then I guess the best that can be said is that he is likely coming very cheap.

It's a nothing move to me.

I'd like to see them start replacing spots occupied by crappy players with players who aren't crappy.  A bad pitcher with options is still a bad pitcher.  Depth is moving worse players down on the depth chart.  Not adding to the bottom of the depth chart.
