Do the Angels owe us an explanation?

Recommended Posts

I don't think the Angels "owe" anyone an explanation, but if they cared at all about their fan base, they should provide details into their thought process regarding Ohtani, and what back up plans A; B; C are.

Most of us here buy tickets or are Season ticket holders every year and want something to buck us up for the future.

What's to explain? Shohei wanted to win badly, so he picked a franchise that has won a lot of regular season games, division titles, and have been to the playoffs every season since he's arrived to MLB, that also has have stability in their front office and manager, with a great support staff.  He also received the biggest contract in MLB history and only have to move about 25 miles up the 5 freeway to make this happen.

Angels had 6 seasons to show Shohei what a great organization they were, only for Arte to cheap out at every corner, had 4 different managers during his 6 seasons here, and never having a winning MLB season since arriving.

The explanation is, we're a shit franchise, the Dodgers aren't.

I'm not sure it was about winning as much as it was about branding.

Obviously the Angels brand is like "Kirkland" compared to some others.

The Angels make some good socks!

There might be something to this. But I think it was honestly about winning.

Not ring chasing. But being in a position that every year he goes to work, he has a legit chance to be in a position that he goes to work every day for something that counts (as far as sports goes).

6 years in a spit where it was just "going to work, trying to get to friday: probably soured him.

Arte. The Death Star.

And the franchise keeps moving forward with the same ending.

Sigh.

i believe david fletcher and maicer izturis played the part of a couple of ewoks. squid probably did, too.

He also must have been frustrated by the Trout and Rendon situations.  Shohei would play both games of a doubleheader, while Rendon refused to explain his injury, and Trout shut himself down after one game of an attempted comeback.

This is cute. Rendon refused to talk to the media, that isn’t the same as what is said to the team and his teammates.  Trout was still injured or he would have played.

You think the guy who wouldn’t talk to the media for 4 months cared about whether Rendon “explained” his injury?

That’s funny.

Taylor would like to have a word with you.  Who gives a shit about who does and doesn’t talk to the media?  It’s dumb.

Only certain members of the media & small amount of the fans care.

I mean Marshawn Lynch almost never talked to the media and yet he was loved by them, his teammates and the fans because he stayed on the field and busted his ass when on the gridiron.
