With the videos we’ve seen of  Washington working with infielders, he probably values that at a pretty high level.  He must have seen something with Goins that makes him the guy to improve our infield defense. 
When Washington was in Texas he had a very good defensive infield but I don’t know how much of that was the natural abilities of those guys or just high level coaching. Probably a little bit of both.

I guess it’s possible he could get promoted to a different position on the staff.

But I think he winds up with the Padres in some capacity.

Rengifo's potential is so tantalizing...he'll only be 27 next year too. I recognize he could be pretty valuable in a trade, and his somewhat streakiness and inconsistent play on both sides of the ball make it hard to know exactly where he lands, but I really hope the Halos don't move him only to see him blossom into a fantastic player over his next 5-6 years.
