It strikes me funny to see the term "offensive coordinator" used for baseball.  I always think of that as a football thing. 

In any case - the coaching staff is shaping up.  Interesting names for sure.

Young hitting coach and pitching coach. IMO these 2 look like Minasian hires. Nice to get some new blood in here if they've identified something that will get the most out of the young talent on the club.

So, what exactly is an offensive coordinator and what do they do? Is that like a second pitching coach but with a different title and he'll be working at the same level as Johnny Washington but on different aspects? Or is he like the hitting coach equivalent of POBO and will maybe have oversight over hitting on multiple levels of the organization?

It's my hope that it's the OC's job to set a game plan against the opponents pitching staff & defensive alignments much like an NFL offensive coordinator .... and that if the OC sees something off in a player's approach/swing in-game from above on video, they will call into the dugout to communicate what tweaks need to make for that player to Ron & Johnny Washington. The OC may see something in the opposing pitcher's in-game trends or catcher's setup that could be communicated to the coaches/manager in the dugout in real time.

Probably. Seems to be a young staff overall, but if Washington can shape a culture over his 2 years that will be great.

Why don’t you want Montgomery back? What can you specifically point to that disqualifies him from coming back?
