Would you do Jo Adell for Pete Alonso?

Looks like the Mets might be making some moves. Would you trade Jo Adell as the starting piece for Pete Alonso?

Not sure I'd want Alonso next year. He's going to be expensive in his final year of control ($14.5m this year, so maybe $20m plus next) and that's a lot for 1st base. Enticing for this year's run, maybe jams us up a bit for next year.

I wouldn't trade Adell at this point because of the precariously thin outfield depth next season.

I don't know if that would be enough. I think they Angels would have to add Rendon to get either one of those guys. lol

I wouldn't, because the team's average body fat % would take too large of a hit in any Rengifo trade.

I mean, yes. Of course. It would take Adell, Bush, Quero, and more, however.

It would also take probably a major fire sale in New York, and Alonso while under arbitration, is also currently hurt.

No chance the Mets do that.

It's hard to know what Adell's trade value is, but I can't imagine it's that great.

IF there was gonna be some sort of swap of Adell for a 1B, I've wondered about Torkelson.

But the Angels would probably need to add someone of significance to even the value. Again, though, I could be off base because it's really hard to know Adell's value from the outside looking in.

He's the coffee machine the dealership throws in when you're buying a new car. Just to make you feel like you got a good deal.

Adell was screwed when Marsh fell apart. Up till then, we could have updated the "our kids are good, our coaches just suck. You can fix him!"

But we waited too long to use that.

I would think that Eppler’s seat is getting warmer and, if he’s back next year, he will have no room for error. He could start trading looking to the future, but I doubt Cohen wants that or that Eppler has that ability to identify and develop a strong farm system.
