Doctor Strange Multiverse

Nice to see Rachel McAdams get a slightly better Christine role than the wasted girlfriend role of the previous role and I loved seeing Sam Raimi putting his skills on display for this movie.  Also nice to give Bruce Campbell his usual hilarious cameo.  Only one kill in this movie made me question the PG13 rating compared the others.

Spoiler

Agent Carter split in half by Scarlet Witch with her own shield

The Chavez character was rather meh, though.

I find the pearl-clutching that's occurring on Twitter and elsewhere online over the rating to be bizarre, really.  The movie seemed to clearly fit within the PG-13 guidelines to me, especially since the movie is set within a "fantasy"/superhero sort of world.

On Chavez, I thought the actress was fine and I'm curious to see how the character is used moving forward--but agree with you that in this particular movie, she didn't have much to do.

Finished second half of S4 Ozark on Netflix

Wild finish with lots of twists

We finished watching it today. Crazy stuff. It ended well, but there’s enough loose ends to do another season.

Is there going to be a S5?

There's not going to be a fifth series of Ozark - though season four has been released in two halves. Ozark series 4 is the final series of the Netflix series. That means there will not be a fifth instalment of the popular crime drama.Apr 29, 2022

Moon Knight

By far my favorite of the Disney+ Marvel shows. Oscar Isaac with brilliant acting the way he could switch back and forth between his alter egos. Really hope there is a season 2.

Completely agree.

don't get to say that often to you

I'm excited to watch it. Wanda Vision was fun (but very overrated), Falcoln and the Winter Soldier was a snorefest, and Loki was fantastic. Haven't watched Hawkeye.

Hawkeye was good if you could ignore the terrible character that Hailee Seinfeld played.

Moon Knight was incredible for the first half and then got weird. What's with the cartoon animal Egyptian gods that have British accents? I never read the comics. Or any. I still really liked it though.

Of course there will be a season 2

One of my 8th grade parents is a studio carpenter. He’s currently building sets here in SoCal for a series of Star Wars movies. Some of them will be permanent set pieces according to him.

Tell him to steal the non permanent set pieces and you can have a Star Wars Christmas.

The Northman

A classic revenge tale set among Viking tribes around the 9th or 10th century. Visually grounded, the world feels exceptionally lived in and authentic, interspersed with some cool mysticism. The story has a few surprises and maybe even something to say. Good use of the R rating, and maybe worth a 4K Blu-ray purchase down the road.

Firestarter: Very bland and boring.  Not remotely scary or intense. I actually think it would have been more entertaining if it had been worse, in a way; I think I would enjoyed at least some attempts to inject some style and swing for the fences, if it they ended up missing.  This thing just lays there.

Pleasure: Not for everyone, but if you're open to a drama set within the L.A. porn industry as a young outsider tries to become the next big star, this is a solid movie.  The lead actress does a great job in her acting debut.  Interesting to see a feminist viewpoint on the industry--though it has also been criticized for being unrealistic by some people who work in the industry.

Senior Year: Made me remember I don't really like Rebel Wilson.  She's the star and she's by far the least interesting part of this fairly lightweight comedy that feels like something from the late 1990s.

Started watching Bosch: Legacy. We’re thru E5 and enjoying it. When I heard it was coming I didn’t figure Harry would have as big a role. Glad I was wrong.

Spoiler

Maddie is going to have a tough time if she can’t leave her work at the office.

Do not bother with the Firestarter remake.  I saw the original on Showtime a few years ago and it's mid tier King but a masterpiece like Shining and Dead Zone compared to this dreck.  At least there was some build up and suspense and George C Scott wasn't just one dimensional like the villain in this one.  This is more along the lines of crap like 1990's Graveyard Shift.  Starts out decent in the first 20 minutes and just gives up after that.  Carpenter score is nice, though, even if Tangerine Dream's is better.
