Angels hire Matt Vasgersian as their new PBP announcer

The only caveat I have with Matt V is that he might be too impartial, while Sutton will be noticeably partial since he's a publicly asserted Angels fan.  Other than that, the home run and walk off calls will be many times better.

Maybe, Matt did specifically address that though. He said he missed being a team's PBP guy because he likes being able to be a bit impartial and root a bit. He's a pretty professional dude, so I would expect him to do a great job.

Got to speak to Daron Sutton last night and man what a fantastic guy he is. Think they’ve absolutely smashed these hirings with Matty V who just oozes star quality and Daron Sutton who you can just tell is so passionate about the Halos and excited to get going. Very much a dream gig and as he told me last night, both him and Matt can’t believe their luck that they are coming into such a great job and the belief that it’s going to be a really good year. I'm honestly stoked about Sutton and he would've been enough, the Matty V hire is the icing and cherry on top of an already good cake.

I heard Sutton was doing the Freeway Series and Matty V's first game was Opening Day. It's entirely possible I misheard, though.

I don’t remember being a big fan of Sutton the first time he was here. I remember liking Impemba quite a bit more, tbh, and thought Sutton wasn’t all that enjoyable to listen to. 
 

I hope Sutton does well here and my memory is faulty on this.

 I’m not going to miss the combo of Gubi and Rojas. I’ve been plenty critical of them the last several years. I hope having a new partner will help Gubi improve how he adds to the broadcast.

Everything I've heard is that they're expected to have a roughly 50-50 split. Per an interview with Sutton, he's expecting them to share the booth for the next few years
