Angels hire Matt Vasgersian as their new PBP announcer

The Angels have named Matt Vasgersian TV play-by-play voice. Daron Sutton hired to back Vasgersian up when doing ESPN games.

THIS IS AMAZING NEWS! This was the guy I wanted to replace Victor Rojas after he resigned all along.

Vasgersian has been my favorite play by play guy and, in my opinion, one of the best  since his work with the Padres. This is a huge win for Angel fans

It's interesting that, in his video, Daron Sutton said that "I can't wait to come into your home just about every single night, onto your devices, and talk Angels baseball together."

I wonder what role he'll be in when he isn't filling in for Vasgersian.

Perhaps they'd do 3-man booths for both TV and Radio

TV: Vasgersian, Gubicza, and Mota.

Radio: Sutton, Smith, and Langston.

I didn't realize until now that he actually pitched in the Angels minor league system.  Totally missed that.  One season in 1992 at Boise.  He had a robust 10.97 ERA and a 2.438 WHIP in 10 2/3 innings.  I think the move to announcing was a good career choice! 

Also interesting that he said he'd been announcing "almost every night"...Doesn't seem to be the case.
