Silver Linings - The 2019 edition

The Angels share a 1-3 record with the Astros, Cardinals and soon to be Boston Red Sox.

Rockies (and maybe the Cubs) look like they're going to split a 4 game series against teams projected to finish last in their division in the Marlins and Rangers.

Oh and the team everyone is predicting to win the World Series is about to lose the opening series to the O's, who may be worse than the Marlins.

The Angels won by 4 runs, lost by 4 runs, then lost close with a chance to win it late in the last two games.

The offense and starting pitching have to get better. I think they will.

I didn’t mind the way we played overall

just have to hit better with risp

If we would have done better in innings 1-6 against their starting pitchers, we would have take the series.

Meh,

The biggest silver lining is that if all the guys currently sucking continue to suck, they have a replacement for them waiting in AAA.   That's the biggest difference between now and three years ago....

Calhoun not looking dead has been nice.

Seriously.

If we're sucking in July and guys like Harvey, Cahill, Allen, Lucroy and Calhoun net us more prospects in a trade because they're above average, we could see a lineup like....

2B Rengifo

CF Trout

DH Ohtani

LF Upton

RF Adell

1B Thaiss/Pujols

SS Simmons

3B Rojas/Ward

C Kruger

Bench: Cozart, Fletcher, Bour, Walsh, Sandoval or Way, Briceno.

Rotation: Skaggs, Barria, Canning, Suarez, Pena, Stratton . Pat Sandoval and Luis Madero as possible callups. Plus injured starters Andrew Heaney, and JC Ramirez who are questionable.

Last I checked your best hitter is supposed to bat 3rd. So after Scioscia failed to realize this with Mike Trout, Asmus doubles down and still puts Trout in the 2 hole. Bour is off to a terrible start (.071).  This organization does not have the luxury to have another horrible April. Cozart and La Stella look lost. Bourjos should never have returned. Pujols is washed up.  If this team as a whole does not start hitting real soon it will be another lost season.

You should check again.   Your best hitter hits 2nd.

Yup was gonna say seems like there has been a shift around the league to the best hitter now being in the #2 spot. Brewers do this with Yelich, Cardinals with Goldschmidt, Cubs and Kris Bryant, Dodgers and Bellinger (not sure if thats a full time thing) ..

I like it...if we had a solid #3 hitter.
