Or he would've been easy to move, if they were that concerned with freeing up his salary. 

So, either they really need to clear some money, or they intend on spending for the pen and wanted to clear up the most expensive piece, or the Angels - and potential trade partners - had enough data that gave them red flags it was easiest to just cut bait now.

I think Parker was past his peak.  Good time to let him go.  I’m sure the money will be used for another pen piece.

His analytics came up short on swinging-strike rate in 2018 vs. 2017 and in his tendency to throw pitches that fly into the bleachers. At age 34, he won't be getting better.

Not a big shock considering Epps disdain for paying for bullpen guys.  i dont think he couldn't be replaced for a couple mil less.
