Yeah I was mostly basing my evaluation of him from last season. Though he looked like the same guy, if not worse in ST..

I joke about being lockdown but if you were paying attention last season you could sense his future role in the bullpen. I think putting on weight was a planned strength and conditioning  regimen. 

He wants to close in big situations ... that’s a good thing. I wish him luck down the road.

Getting fat is not part of a strength and conditioning program, unless Ohtani introduced him to a sumo wrestling trainer.

He's been pretty filthy this season, everything looks much improved and unlike a few starters that were working on there "Third pitch" he's actually throwing is change a lot this season.

Thus far I’ve been impressed with his ability to keep the four seemer out of the middle of the plate or keeps it up in the zone. He’s earned the role.

I’ve also been impressed with Johnson’s looking like a professional reliever when he comes in. He’s older and won’t blow folks away, but doesn’t get behind in the count, doesn’t start walking a bunch of folks, gives the team a chance.
