  1. Their continual budget situation is why they don't have a lot of drafted players. When their drafted players turn out good, they can't afford to keep them so they are traded for good young talent.
  2. This is the first argument I've read that makes me think Maddon may be a bad manager. Regardless of who is behind this, Maddon is the manager, and he should have put a stop to this nonsense a long time ago.
  3. I punched a dude that was acting like a vagina. Does that count?
  4. I'm not aware of any plausible arguments that place Ruiz above Rutschman, but I get your point. This is who I would like to see us target, but we have nothing to offer of equivalent value.
  5. Hey, the only battle we won was after the war was over and was with the help of pirates, and yet we won the war. I think that's pretty cool.
  6. '27 and '28 Ruth and Gehrig combined for about 45 WAR. Two seasons. I'll take it.
  7. It's not entirely implausible to think Ohtani may one day be the GOAT, but right now he doesn't belong on the same list as the other names. If you're looking at their value relative to peers, you have to go with Ruth and Gehrig, no?
  8. I clicked on the link and got an ad for Viagra.
  9. Here is an idea. Let's have the bullpen draw straws the next time they blow a lead. The guy with the short straw will then be beaten to death on the mound by the others. That should provide some incentive to get the ball in the zone.
  10. FWIW, dude is still walking. All hope is not lost for his hitting, but how is he fielding? That is really the thing I'm worried about.
  11. Since the Angels showed Albert the door with the blunt end of their boot, what now happens with the personal services contract?
  12. The Dodgers had incredible starting pitching depth coming into the season. Now, a month later, they need pitching.
  13. I watched my grandfather pull his own tooth.
  14. I always wanted to see Derek Jeter try to catch a 100mph fastball with his nose.
  15. I'm mostly just a reader here, but I've been a reader for years. This is truly sad news. RIP.
  16. Wasn't baseball one of the original Olympic games?
  17. If Ohtani had been injury free in his career I would think he already would have thrown one. He is truly amazing. But given his injury history, who the heck knows. I certainly hope so.
  18. Daaaaaam. What a way to end it.

  20. I didn't vote yes because I want them to add one, I voted yes because I think they will.
  21. Walsh gets a nice mention in this article on MLB. Dude could put up a few solid years for us. Breakout hitters for 2021 to watch (mlb.com)
  22. The one play that always gets me out of my seat, even at home, is the suicide squeeze. In that singular instance, to me, it's the most exciting play in the game.
  23. Ahhhh, come on now. There are always some sourpusses, but this site is usually bubbling with enthusiasm this time of year. Of course we are. We love baseball and we love this team. The past few years the optimism has lasted until the Angels get off to a slow start and then a pitcher leaves a game early with a stiff elbow. That's when we get the cold slap in the face from reality. However, this year does feel different. I think our jinx is over. I really do.
