Schmipf had a nice rookie season only two years ago. So, he can still be productive if he's given a chance.

But, he's like Valbuena since he is very streaky, and @Angel Oracle won't like Schmipf.

He was 28 during his rookie year and turns 30 in a couple of weeks. He's a terrible hitter with a little pop.

Schimpf is one of those guys that you wouldn't think would hit for power, but he does. 

Just another asset in AAA. As a 2B/3B, he'll join Chris Carter, Colin Walsh, David Fletcher, Kaleb Cowart, Jose Miguel Fernandez and Possibly Zach Houchins, in what figures to be a very deep AAA infield.

34 HRs and 69 BBs in 525 career PAs so far, while playing half the time in spacious Petco Park in 2016/2017.

But yeah, it was a significant fall back from .869 OPS in 2016 rookie season to just over .700 in 2017.  

He’s K’d once every 3 PAs so far his first two seasons.

Considering I thought Perez was gone for nothing this is a GREAT deal.

Dude has legit power - 30+ HRs each of the last two years (if you combine majors/minors).  Contact is an obvious issue, but not a bad depth piece.  He had a pretty good year with SD in 2016 - 2.5 WAR in a 89 games.

Would you equate loosing Kinsler as disastrously wrong? That's a possibility. Sometimes 35 year olds don't recover.
