Tough Decision Time on Ohtani ?

Any thoughts that the angels could scrap the hitting for Ohtani and just focus on the pitching...Say around the ASB if he has been struggling at the plate?

Then you should trade him to us And he can hit every time he pitches.  The only reason he choose the AL was to be able to hit everyday as a DH.

No he could pitch on Saturdays here.

I've been wondering if they'd actually do Tuesday or Wednesday. My guess is that those days are lower average attendance, but days of the week with fewest off days throughout the season.  Would maximize revenue, right? Would think Fri-Sun already sell out usually (whether actual attendance is near full or not).

he pitched Sundays in Japan.

so the thought is he would continue that schedule here -- if he's pitching in the rotation every 6th/ 7th day.

another reason for the Halos to pitch him on Sundays ?   Boost attendance.

Friday/ Saturday games usually sell out. No problem.

Sunday games? Not so much.

Sunday games with Ohtaini pitching ?  Sold out as opposed to regular non-Ohtaini mound start game -- 13,000 (maybe) in rhe stands;

Good point

Japan's majors are essentially like AAA?   Or AAAA?

If anything, maybe the first season sees a reduction in expected at bats while still going full speed ahead on pitching?    Say starting 1/4 of the games as DH, while still making some 27 starts (160 innings)?    This is where Chris Carter factors in, increased need for an additional DH/1B?

The Japan League is considered Quad A.

Was ichiro or matsui sent to the minors when they got here?

tanaka, dice-k, darvish?

actually I hope you do send him to the minors because then it will be easier for us to get him from you as he loses the trust and respect of the organization that he carefully picked.

I would think time difference would factor in as well.

You would want to have his pitching starts during Japan friendly times

its about a 13 hour difference so afternoon games are the worst since it would be about 3 am in the morning.

the ideal would probably be a night game since a 7 or 8 pm start would be about 8-9 am in the morning over there.

A Sunday night game however would be Monday am in Japan.

So the ideal is probably a Friday/sat night game in the us which would be a sat/sun morning game watch in Japan.

Not true ... we have a better manager

Debatable.  They have both won one World Series.   And Maddon was SOciaas number 2 when the Angels won in 2002 so gets credit their as well.

And that was two decades ago when mike won.

You have to admit that Maddon almost lost the WS with his bullpen management.

The butthurt here is palpable.

Nope, it's just a matter of now or later.

but with threads like Blowtani seems like some of you have already given up on him .

Maybe you've missed it but, an OCRegister article quotes Japanese media as saying Ohtani seems happier now than at any point during his career in Japan.    Might have to wait for the later....

Angel fans on a message board don't have that much pull.

The Cubs' excessive day schedule would increase the likelihood that the games he starts air at 4 AM in Japan... if he was a Cub.
