Yankees and Red Sox play a pivotal series starting tonight

That's the word they used on Sportscenter this morning.  "Pivotal".

The Yankees trail Boston by 4.5 games.

 

I looked it up.  The Yankees and Red Sox play TWO MORE series after this series.

EVERYTHING regarding Yanks/Sox is pivotal... to their ratings.   The only thing i care about it is that it could affect the WC, aside from that, im over it long ago.

I will say this though, i think the Yanks are a candidate to fall back to the pack in a big way.   Judge literally carried them in the first half offensively and hees half of what he was prior to the AS break at this point with an OPS now under 700 since then.  You take him out of that mix and their next best offensive player is Gregorious.  They have solid pitching and obviously the addition of Gray but i think they may have trouble scoring runs down the stretch and they have a BRUTAL schedule for the rest of the way aside from a 4 game set with the Mets, and who knows when those 2 get together.    It would not shock me at all to see them actually miss the post. 

Neither Tanaka or Gray pitch in this series, i think Bos wins 2 of 3 or sweeps.
