Still confused over the you get to pick your provider thing being that terrific a selling point.  I could be in the dark having employer insurance forever basically but if I want it they offer one provider.  Take it or leave it.

We have two options, an HMO and a PPO. The PPO offers more flexibility (no primary care physician, go to the provider that you choose, specialists included, provided that he/she is on the plan, etc.). The kicker is that the premiums are much higher, and the deductibles are astronomical, especially for hospital stays. I have the HMO. Since I don't work in the mainstream medical community anymore, I'm not that familiar with individual physicians, apart from what I hear from colleagues.

If it isn't apparent yet it should be obvious now that Republicans never really wanted to repeal Obamacare. The fact that they bitched about it for seven years without a replacement is more than enough evidence to show that they weren't really serious about their outrage, which as it turns out is nothing more than feigned moral outrage to whip up their base and create votes. Republicans, you've been used again! Your party has been promising you small government and repeal of the ACA but they never deliver. Ronald Reagan gave illegals amnesty and raised taxes, George W. actually expanded government!! All the anti government talk is FAKE!

Obamacare has been nothing more than a talking point and rhetoric to the Republican Party. When the cons had no chance to actually repeal the law they voted over and over (maybe 60 times) to repeal the ACA. Now that they have the legislative power to actually do it they folded like a cheap tent and couldn't even bring it to a vote!

If no one believes that cons really didn't want to repeal the ACA one needs to look no further than the Republicans that actually SAVED Obamacare starting with Chief Justice John Roberts (a Republican) who was the swing vote that found the law constitutional!!! Now House Republicans have saved Obamacare yet again due to hard liners that didn't back the repeal and made it impossible to even have a vote.

It's all just talk from Republicans that have used their rhetoric to whip up their base by comparing the ACA with the devil himself. They have the power but not the will. The reason they don't have the will is because they never really had it to begin with.

An assessment from a college buddy, now a licensed attorney in Florida who knows more than a bit about insurance:

Casualty insurance works because many buy it but few will need it. Health insurance is the opposite -- everyone needs it but not everyone can get it. The purpose of essential health benefits is to make sure that health insurance policies actually provide expected health insurance benefits. The so-called free market of health insurance and health care led to year after year of increased premiums, reduced benefits, uninsured pre-existing conditions, lifetime caps, refusal to authorize treatment for insureds, and reduced payments to physicians and hospitals. During the same fictitious free market, insurance companies experienced year after year of increased profits. There is no such thing as a free market in dealing with insurance companies, whose history when dealing with its customers is lies, deceit, and fraud. Trumpcare provides no check on the insurance companies, no protection of consumers, and continued mistreatment of the healthcare profession. Congress did not get a mandate to cause harm to its constituents, and that is all that Trumpcare promises.

So you're saying that insurance companies screw people over, regardless of Obamacare?
