Losing a pet....

Chuck

Recommended Posts

I don't know about you, but I'm very attached to my pets, especially my dogs.

Today I woke up to my dog Princess (Boxer-Pitbull mix) dead on the side of my house.

She gets let out every morning to go potty for 10-15 minutes every morning, but today she didn't return. I went to look for her and found her on the side of the house with her tongue out, white foam on the ground, needles/brush on her tongue. I believe she was poisoned or eat/drank something poisonous.

Anyhow, I don't know about you but losing a dog is very tough. This gal followed me everywhere and was by my side wherever I went, or cuddling with me on the couch or bed during games or movies.

I feel for my daughter and my other dog Max as Princess and him were very close. After I buried Princess this morning and was pulling out of my driveway to go to work, Max was looking out the bay window and starring at Princess' grave with his head hung low. He too lost a close companion.

R.I.P. Princess

My condolences. That must have been terrible to see; I'm extremely close with my pet as well; but you gave her a good life, and a lot of animals don't have that luxury—hopefully you can find solace in that.

My condolences and I'm sorry to hear about your loss. It's extremely hard to lose your dog.

One of the few times I almost completely lost it was when my Maltese had to be put down many years ago.  When I left her in the room with the vet, it took everything I had to not break down and cry.  I had to be strong for my two kids who were sobbing like crazy at the time.

Yeah, I had to be strong for my daughter and wife too who were sobbing, screaming, angry.... I didn't lose it until I left home today and saw Max looking depressed out the bay window.

Max and Princess were very close.

I have two dogs, Champ, a black lab I got in 2003 as a puppy and Casey, she's a Shappard Lab mix, she's about 11 years old. I got her after Champs sister was hit and killed by a car. Champ is getting older, he's got a lot of gray hair and he's deaf now. Just recently his body is kind of changing shapes where his head doesn't look big compared to his body. His chest is getting really big and he's starting to slow down.

Knowing that he's only got a few years left we recently got a black lab puppy, her name is Piper. She's about 12 weeks old and is pretty great.

When it's Champs time to go I know I'll be devastated. He's been such a good dog and by far the most I've ever been attached to any dog.

Chuck I'm incredibly sorry to hear about your loss.
