I'd like to see the Angels trade for Trevor Plouffe. He has 2 years left of club control at age 29. He's a SoCal guy. Twins need a place to put Sano and 3B is his natural position.

Then, I would like a true leadoff hitter. Someone with an OBP at least north of .330. Maybe take a chance on Span and ask him to play LF?

I'm sure any GM worth the money he's being paid can find a way around that. Heck, I can do it for free. We're 15 million under the luxury tax, we have another 12 million being freed up in free agency. With arbitration bonus' , cut that down to about 6 million, which is approximately 20 million to play with.

If you then consider we'll likely be trading someone like Santiago, they may free up a little more. If we allow the logical inherence of positions like Kubitza at 3B, Bandy at C, and Murphy as a 4th OF, then 20 million could go a long way.

That could be Span for LF at 10 million, a 7th inning RP for another 5 million, and a clubhouse leader that also plays UTIF like Bloomquist for another couple. With guys like Tropeano, Newcomb and Ellis forcing their way into the rotation, suddenly the Angels aren't looking too bad. They'll have someone for Trout to drive in, the pitching and defense improves, the clubhouse improves.

The Angels would be competitive without breaking the bank. Then the next year, they have 40 million coming off the books. The year after that, almost another 40 million.

Voila, we're good. Now where's that money?

Why's Huston Street on that list?

Anyway, I'd Still love to see Cespedes in LF. And while I used to want to get Howie back at second, it sure has been nice having clutch hitting with Gia (I know, his glove blows). Heck I'd even bring Freese back if he wants to stay for a reasonable amount. But this would be interesting (not a lineup, just positioning)

1B pujols

2B giavotella

SS aybar

3B freese

RF calhoun

CF trout

LF cespedes

DH cron

SP Price or Cueto or Greinke (but Greinke bummed me out before)

SP Heaney

SP Richards

SP Skaggs

SP Tropeano/Santiago/Newcomb

CP street

SU smith

Other relievers:

Gott,Alvarez,Rasmus keep, but replace the rest

So really, get a #1 starter, and real left fielder and gut the pen. Could trade Santiago or Tropeano or both if Newcomb is ready, though we gotta see what happens with Skaggs. And sad to say it, but I don't know what to say about weaver. A true Angel,a good guy, major heart and loyal to the team, but his body isn't keeping up with his heart anymore.

As far as the pen goes, it's a mess, I don't know where to start there. Some show promise that crap the bed on the regular (morin and bedrock) others are just up there in unreliability as scary frieri and daisy fuentes (salad). I'm forgetting a ton, because well, our pen was forgettable.

Wow, a lot of ex-Angels in that SP list: colon, Kazmir, Greinke, lackey, Jerome Williams, haren and now Latos... RP has quite a few too

It'd be fun to have colon back, as a mascot or something. Shrek is always smiling. Had a blast this year watching his highlights. The behind the back throw, ripping on his own gut, actually beating out throws. Miss that dude (but no, I don't really want him back..lied either fall apart, have a coronary or get busted for PEDs if we signed him)
