What's wrong with Mike Trout?

It would be cool if the Angels had some sort of guide, or "coach" if you will, who specialized in hitting. You know, someone who could review tapes and scouting reports to help hitters fix any problems with their swing or approach.

Unfortunately, as far as I know no such person exists.

Wrist injury.  Seriously, when have you ever heard of a mlb hitter recovering quickly recovering from a wrist injury, even a minor one?

If he's that injured he shouldn't be playing. Plus he has explicitly denied that the wrist injury is an issue at least three times.

He's batting .105 on first pitches this year and .448 on 0-1 counts.

Even still you have to attempt at least some of the time to keep pitchers honest. If they can reasonably expect Trout will *never* swing first pitch they can just groove meatballs and always get ahead on the counts.

.105

Significantly greater number of 1-0 counts.

Trout is batting .307/.470/.624 when he starts at bats 1-0, as opposed to batting  .294/.351/.557 when starting at bats 0-1.

Your league MVP player is going to play in a pennant race. I'm fairly certain Mike Trout is the type of ballplayer at this age that wouldn't allow himself to be removed from the lineup unless his legs were falling off.
