Ron Washington resigns as Rangers manager

I think he sensed that he was on his way out and just decided to quit on his own terms. He said some pretty dumb shit about Darvish recently and it wouldn't surprise me to learn that it caused a rift between him and the front office.

He pretty much accused Darvish of quitting on the team. I would have sacked him right then.

Daniels didn't alienate anyone by replacing Young at 3rd base, trading Kinsler, and refusing to present serious offers to certain players.  That's just normal GM business. These grievances say more about the types of personalities he's dealt with.

 

 

His complete and total lack of people skills is quickly becoming legendary -- but I'm fine with you pretending all of that is made up and just a case of normal GM business.

I agree, he should have just been honest and told people that the Rangers were purposely tanking to try to get the top pick in the draft.  It not like anyone would care with football season starting anyway.

Daniels deserves more credit than Washington for Texas' recent success. Washington lost two World Series with his horrific in game management and decisions on who to start pitching wise and position player wise.

The stuff about Daniels being power-hungry and the alleged spat between the owners is just crap propagated by hacks like Randy Galloway.

Today, I have learned, via a source close to the situation, that Ron Washington’s resignation was due to an argument between himself and Jon Daniels.

Earlier this week JD informed Wash that he was going to shut Yu Darvish down for the rest of the season. According to the source, Ron Washington told Daniels that he didn’t agree with that because if Darvish is healthy he should still pitch and not quit on the team.

This lead to a screaming match near the batting cages and the two took the argument inside.

The part I don't get is that the Rangers publicly went on record as saying they were disappointed in his decision to leave the team.   If this newest story has any legs, not sure how any MLB team would want to be associated with a sexual assault case on any level.
