In all seriousness, I feel like he's pulling the classic, "Fire me? No, I quit." It can't be a coincidence that he does this the day after the Rangers are totally eliminated from contention.

I don't think they were threatening to fire him.  There was nothing he, or anyone else, could have done to make them competitive this year with as many injuries as they had.
