Mike Trout in the HR Derby..good or bad?

It does not matter. Total and utter superstition.

The fact is most baseball players are superstitious to some extent. Whether or not any of their superstitions are legitimate is another story. My point is as we all know baseball is largely mental. So why would we want to put our young superstar in an event that means absolutely nothing and has even the smallest possibility of affecting him negatively either mentally or physically (regarding his mechanics and possibly even injury)

What if there's actually an old Caucasian looking dude with a white beard who lives up in the sky somewhere, who treated ancient peoples monstrously and insists that we submit to his will, otherwise we're going to burn in absolute torment for eternity?

Your parents told you a very twisted version of the Santa Claus tale when you were growing up.

I thought it was charleton heston personally?

I dont know if it has an effect on players or not. But ive gone early to watch BP several times. During the season, spring training, etc. And by the later rounds the overall majority of the guys (sans your aybars, izturis') are swinging yard.

Just my opinion, but I dont think it has any effect at all.

I took my nephew to the HR Derby when it was in Anaheim a couple of years ago. We got LF pavillion seats and brought our gloves.

Without the ESPN broadcast to fill in between batters and the huge gaps for commercials I found it to be a surprisingly boring experience. The kid had a great time, though and that's what mattered.

If we had an Angel batting in the thing it might've been a lot more interesting.

If Trout bats in the Derby I know I will watch. If not, I doubt I'll even tune into the AS coverage that week. JMHO. Go Trout!
