It isn't a persons job to discern the Bible for themselves, that is what the Church is for. Personal interpretation of the Bible leads to Protestantism and other heresies.

We have been drinking the Body and Blood for two thousand years.

Transubstantiation does change the person... if they let Him.

If you've been drinking the body for two thousand years you're doing it wrong and going to hell.

Say hi to Hitler when your there.

We are to promote and do God's work as asked of us. Christ will genocide the Jews and Muslims, but I hope to see them converted before this happens, of course. Those entering even Purgatory is a shrinking amount, attaining salvation outside of the Catholic Church is likely impossible.

buddy, check your scriptures again. all who come to Christ can be saved. there is not one mention of anyone in scripture being saved because of their denomination. not one. we are saved because of our relationship with Jesus, pure and simple. whether or not you're a catholic isn't relevant to your eternal salvation.

Or they are smart enough to understand symbolism over literal translations. Like the article you posted, christ referred to himself as a door. Nobody is open g and closing doors in the church saying this is the door of christ.

Somewhere along the line a choice was made to take parables and metaphors and try and make them literal translations when it serves the Church. In the last supper he said in rememberence of me. That would be a clue he was speaking metaphorically.

On a more spiritual vein if you actually consumed the body and blood of Christ, literally through communion you would have to be a changed person. And yet many of the most notorious mob hitmen were Catholics, born, baptized, confirmed and married in the Church. All the while taking communion and going about their daily evil.

There seems to be a spiritual disconnect going on.

We still have free will and can reject the grace that God gives through the sacraments. Additionally, if one receives Communion while in the state of mortal sin, the graces have no effect and he also commits the sin of sacrilege.

God respects our free will and would never impose His love on us.

The "remembrance" aspect is more a memorial sacrifice than a simple reminiscing of the Lord. St. Paul..."when we eat this Bread and drink this cup we proclaim the death of the Lord until He comes again." And one who eats and drinks unworthily is guilty of the Body and Blood of the Lord. Again, the words of St. Paul. The early Christians understood and believed in the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist. There's copious evidence of this from the early Church fathers.

The Passover seder is similar in that the present is brought together with the past on that sacred night. The Passover becomes real in a deep sense to the celebrants.

Again, we could go on for hours and days about these topics, but another forum would be more appropriate. It's certainly far beyond the scope of this thread.
