Grant Green down. Cory Rasmus up.

This team has done the vet DH thing for years. Ibanez, Dave Parker, etc.  DiPoto, Scioscia, and all the other Angels management just need to face facts.  Ibanez is DONE.  Cron should have ALL of the DH at bats, and the Angels are a better team with Green on the bench over Ibanez.

A favorable matchup for Ibanez is a pitcher who can't strikeout anybody who also happens to have 8 defenders in the field with no arms.

The problem is that favorable matchup does not exist

Green gave the #Angels lots of versatility, but Cron can DH almost every day, unless matchup favors Ibanez, and occasionally spell Pujols.

I'm genuinely curious what matchups favor Ibanez at this point.

Exactly my sentiment.

Career BA of .383 against John Lackey!

Only batted .273 vs Joe Blanton, though

I'm almost hoping Ibanez gets hurt

I never wish injury on someone but I see why you feel that way. I thought that Dipoto and Scioscia's jobs were to put the best team out there in order to win? This is not what's happening. It is perplexing as Ibanez brings nothing to the table.

Another option was to release Ibanez, who signed an incentive-laden $2.5 million contract in the winter and is batting .143/.249/.259 more than two months into the season. But the Angels will continue to be patient with the 42-year-old left-handed hitter, who can at the very least serve as a valuable late-game pinch-hitter if he's right.

Scioscia said "there's going to be plenty of righties" against whom Ibanez will start at DH, but the Angels will face an opposing lefty in three of their next four games, including Chris Sale on Saturday. Cron figures to get the majority of the at-bats at DH moving forward, but Scioscia wouldn't commit to that.

"I don't think it's much different than we've talked about," he said. "When a guy is performing well, obviously he's going to get more looks. And when a guy is struggling, maybe you take him off that horse for a little bit to let him catch his breath. That's kind of where we're at right now."

Lol

You guys are all missing the clues that are keeping Ibanez in the line up.

He was drafted when pagers were exploding in popularity for people in their teens and twenties which was also the time when scioscia's fondness for baked ziti was growing.

At the same time, a scientist at Johns Hopkins university began to develop codes that could relay an entire message with only a few numbers. One of these such codes was 143 aka I Love You.

Scioscia's love for baked ziti began to grow and he would often send a page to himself every time he devoured a plate of delicious pasta. This page was none but the famous 143.

Fast forward 19 years and we have the answer to Ibanez getting every day playing time. Ibanez is batting 143 and 143 just so happens to ring a bell in scioscia's head, bringing back fond memories for him and that delicious pasta.

Ibanez's rookie year, pagers, ziti, and 143 are all brought together to produce a love from coach to player that cannot and will not ever be broken.

Agreed. Seems like the only way Ibanez stops getting starts is if he is hurt.

Finally an explaination for all this madness. Nice!
