Okay, not trying to throw any cold water on this, but I hope Josh lays off the breaking pitches in the dirt which he's sure to get this year in abundance. They're not meant to be crushed, only looked at.

That won't change, Josh has always swung at those pitches. I don't see how he could suddenly stop, especially this late in his career

So on the infrequent occasions when he actually makes contact with the baseball, he'll be crushing it.

I can't wait. The excitement is killing me.

I am blown away that you of all people would find the negativity of a positive thing. You are usually such a beacon of optimism.

how did pujols look in comparison?

Not great although I left after his first round of BP. The first group in the cage was Trout, Hamilton, Raul and Calhoun. Next group was Aybar, Albert, Howie and someone else but I don't recall who. I watched all of the first group and the first round of the second. So in all fairness the first round they are working on bunting and hitting the ball to the opposite field for the first few pitches.

Actually he has had decent years versus the slider. He has been hot and cold in how he deals with it. Last year was his worst by a long shot. If he rebounds to his career norms then he can be very productive. Check out my article on him from two weeks ago here on AngelsWin for all the numbers.

Was an absolute beast in batting practice. He hit multiple balls over the screen and scoreboard today.

Those of us, and that's pretty much me, who are stuck in the frozen tundra of Michigan, appreciate hearing things like this that we cannot experience for ourselves. I'll take any tidbit of hope I can get. Thanks for posting!
