No it really didn't. You do realize other teams, even good teams, give veteran players a chance to compete for a spot in spring training on non-guaranteed contracts.

Since when did it become okay to take a 13MM flyer on a guy?  Dude is an extremely high injury risk with average stuff in the AL.

Capuano has never pitched in the AL full time. He has had only 2 sub 4.00ERA seasons with 198+IP in his 10 year career.

We don't need Capuano to pitch 198 innings of sub 4 ERA baseball. If he pitches 150 innings around 4-4.25 ERA, he's well worth the 2/12 deal he's asking for.

It's not really a big deal. I'm not really a Garza guy anyway. If Skaggs and Santiago deliver then we'll be ok but if they don't then it's 2013 all over again. My real concern is that Texas made some big moves to improve their team and they were already good.

The Angels aren't cheap. You can say they made some bad spending decisions but they're not cheap.

Well outside of Tanaka the free agent talent pool this offseason was pretty weak. Garza is really not a reliable front line type anyway so no big loss there. Jerry Dipoto signed a pretty good reliever in Joe Smith which should help solidify the pen so some solid moves were made without having to go overboard.
