However we did ditch Oliver Perez, and I don't think that we will run out tonight, there's 17 position players active, LOL.

I've actually been thinking about this a lot lately.  It doesn't take much to replace Aybar's .680 OPS in the lineup, and at this stage of their careers, Romine is superior defensively.  Unlike Aybar he actually does have decent plate discipline as well, so at least he's less annoying to watch at the plate.  SS is a defense-first position and we have enough offense elsewhere in the lineup to manage if he can scrape together a .650ish OPS.

Only thing Aybar has is a little more pop. But, I can see where trading Aybar could work as a salary dump and a good baseball move at the same time.
