Weaver Bounces Back

What's your definition of a "Weaver hater"? Anyone that thinks he hasn't pitched like an "ace" this year?

considering "ace" is a completely subjective term, yes.  He is the best pitcher on our staff, to me that is an ace.

He is still one of the ten best starters in the AL.  It's completely subjective, but to deny it seems petty.

A year from now some reporter is going to tweet that Blanton had to be held back twice from attacking Weaver in the clubhouse, accusing Weaver of only going out there to pitch well instead of giving up a boatload of runs.

Weaver is a stud.

You seemed to stop thinking he was based on one bad start.

Why do I have to keep explaining myself.

His numbers are down and his velocity is down. He's in decline. He's not a number 1 anymore imo.

I'm sorry some people can't accept the fact that weaver might be in decline.

Justin Verlander isn't the same pitcher he was because his velocity is down.

Same goes for Tim lincecum, Dan Haren and CC Sabathia.

Everyone remembers how dominating Barry Zito was and then he completely fell off once his velocity dropped.

This isn't something new or confusing. Every angel fan should be concerned with his decline.

Weaver is no exception to the rule.

Weaver's secondary numbers haven't really changed all that much since 2011. His strikeouts and walks have remained fairly constant. His HR rate is a tad up, but that could very well be just a sample size issue rather than an indicator of his declining stuff. His BABIP is low, as usual.

Weaver may not be at his absolute peak, but he's still pitching like Jered Weaver. Even with declining velocity.

As long as he locates the way he does, he'll survive.
