@jonmorosi: Philosophical differences exist between the men, and it has become increasingly apparent to organization that status quo is not tenable.

The team lacked motivation and didn't make the playoffs in 2010-11 before Dipoto arrived. The team has lacked motivation and hasn't made the playoffs since Dipoto has arrived. The common denominators after numerous changes are Arte Moreno and Mike Scioscia.

Goodbye Mike.

The common denominator is two horrible GM's in Reagins and Dipoto.

Arte was very much involved in the acquisitions of Pujols and Hamilton so he can't throw Dipoto under the bus. That would also be an admission by Arte that he made a mistake hiring Dipoto in the first place. The new Sheriff will be spared.

Goodbye Mike

it wasn't a motivation issue.
