Never seen a demotion this bad before:

He's hitting .115/.217/.154 with 27 K in 61 PA.  He's been flat-out terrible every year since they drafted him.  He didn't really deserve to be in AAA based on his performance.  I'm guessing they just sent him there to see what would happen.  If he doesn't turn it around at Inland Empire, I imagine he'll be out of the system before the end of the year.

Because he grew up an Angels fan and the Angels have the ability to offer him the most money.

Well, if he grew up an Angels fan then he knows the organization and that means he will pitch for the Yankees or Boston, maybe even the Braves but he will steer clear of Anaheim.

He probably got sent there because Evan White (plus others) were hurt and they needed a body.

I agree; the IE stint seems like a last chance to get things together or you’re gone.

Well, that's certainly one thing DiChiara can provide plenty of.

Perhaps.

But the team was good when he grew up watching them.

He was 8 in 2002.

Players who watched the Angels as a kid within the last decade are the ones who’ll be more likely to steer clear.

Yes, but the guy that scouted him had read Moneyball and thought he was looking at the modern day Jeremy Brown.   I mean, Brown even went to Alabama!

He didn't realize he was actually the modern day Chris Farley*.

Has Anyone watched Rangel pitch this year? he's having quite a solid year at AA, with solid strike-out rates! He's 26 but I could see him taking over Suarez role or be an arm in the BP.

Also that AA Bp has been locked down! multiple guys with ERA's around 0. Erla, Darrel-Hicks and Armstrong showing much improved control. Could see some help coming up soon.

Zach Plesac has given up 5 hits, 1 walk, and 4 runs through 3 innings tonight.  Still a joke that they gave him $1M guaranteed.

I thought it was pretty smart actually. With 1 million guaranteed, no team is going to claim him. Guaranteed pitching depth. And if for some reason he’s actually good, then you’d have a good major leaguer at a huge discount.

"Guaranteed pitching depth."  Lol.  He's terrible.  That seems to be the only guarantee right now--and that's why no team is going to claim him.

It’s fine if you have an unlimited budget, but they don’t. Or at the very least, a substantially higher budget.

Yeah, he’s terrible right now. But he was pretty solid before. It’s a very defensible move.
