Let’s get the #1 draft pick!

According to MLB.com, the Mets find themselves in an interesting situation when it comes to the 2024 draft. They will either wind up with one of the top 6 picks or drop all the way to 17 or higher, there is no in between for them. This is because they exceeded the highest CBT threshold again this year and only the top 6 picks are exempt from the penalty.

Hey, if the A's win at least one against the Angels, that'll get them their second 10-win month this season.  Baby steps!

With the Angels winning and the Cardinals losing again, the Cardinals have locked down the 5th pre-draft position. 

With the Mets weather-related issues these days, they still have a shot of slipping ahead of the Angels for the 6th position, though it's pretty unlikely.

Draft Lottery is this Tuesday, Dec. 5.  Hopefully a top-3 pick is on the way.  Maybe by the time the draft rolls around there will be some college pitchers ready to step into the rotation.

Last year would have been a good year to have lottery luck and get a top three pick.  Wyatt Langford at 3 or 4 last year is a much better pro prospect than Wetherholt or Bazzana at 2 or 3 this year.
