Walsh went from zero to hitting .440 at Salt Lake, and now this is what he’s done in the majors.

Bear that in mind when looking at anyone’s AAA stats (Fletcher, Adell, Stefanic, Cabbage, etc) and sticking him in the majors.

Trey Cabbage and Jo Adell actually impact the baseball, unlike Fletcher, Stefanic, and Walsh.

That’s evidenced in their average EV and their max EV.

Walsh’s avg EV in AAA was 85.6 mph, which should’ve carried more weight than his batting average. A lot of his hits in AAA were 60-80 mph bloopers.

He clearly hasn’t regained his physical strength that he lost before he got surgery in 2022, evidenced by his EV numbers.

And the Angels have even more data than we do which should tell them that, like bat speed.

There is no doubt in my mind he should have spent three weeks in AAA to regain a lost half season due to his injury. But the defensive shortfalls at 1st base between three different players necessitated a change.

So now you're just going to have to wait out his slump. Like we've been waiting for Trout to pull out of his slump for the last 25 games where he has hit .211/.330/.422/.752 and more recently the last 6 games .143/.280/.286/.566 out of the #3 spot in the order.

You want to complain about Walsh batting 7th or 8th while Trout has been killing rallies for the last month, go ahead.

They don’t impact the baseball if they’re missing it.

And, yes, the Angels do have more data. That’s why they haven’t called up those other guys.
