Trout is letting Ohtani use his guest room so he can save up for a mansion of his own. That and car pooling so he saves gas money as well.

We thought signing Trout to a long extension was a long shot, so who knows. How much could it cost to replace Ohtani the pitcher and Ohtani the hitter? For $20M more than Ohtani makes this year is still doable as long as Ohtani agrees.

When we make the playoffs will be a contender. He is getting $30M this year.  To replace him with equal talent will cost us at least $50M. Give Ohtani an extra $20M and call it a day. I remember this same dialog a few years ago when Trout was near FA, no one gave us a chance to extend long term.

There aren't many teams that can afford to bring in one player for $50 million, and if he really doesn't want to play in the east (he was pretty firm on that five years ago), that limits the field even more. Mariners are already pinching pennies; doubt they can afford him. So, if not the Angels, it's what? Dodgers, Giants, and Padres?

The Angels are one of the top spenders, so it really just comes down to whether he trusts Arte and Minasian to make the team a winner.

And if Arte Moreno is FINALLY willing to go over the tax threshold.

He always said he would for the right player.
