I like Regifo, and I'm not a big Andrus fan, but we are sleeping on the fact that Fletcher/Rengifo might be a significant negative next season.

Somehow we've gone from David Fletcher is overrated to David Fletcher is a significant liability in the lineup.

His floor is a weak hitting defensive specialist. Basically Velazquez with a few more hits. That's not amazing, but it's still worth in the neighborhood of 1-2 WAR, which is okay if the rest of your lineup crushes it.

This group scares me because it's probably middle of the pack IF nobody gets hurt or just has an off year. If Loup turns into 2021 Loup again, we may even be a bit above average. But bullpens tend to be pretty fluid over the course of a full season, which is why depth is so important in that area of the roster. So it's really a matter of when some of these dudes get hurt or just start pitching like crap, who do we have that can step in for them? If we manage to find two or three legit dudes via the minors, trades, or the waiver wire, then we've got a decent shot at being good. If we don't do that, then I don't see any realistic scenario where this bullpen isn't a liability.

I voted “meh.”

I’d like another signing, but I think internal improvement is the biggest key to the bullpen’s success.

Considering this team is win now mode: I’d like to see them have a wide open competition, take the 8 best options on Opening Day, and not be afraid to quickly move on from guys if they aren’t cutting it

Exhaust all your options, and find the best ones. Whether it’s someone already on the 40-man, moving a starter to the bullpen, or an NRI.

Similar to what C-Rod did in 2021, I’d like to see a young pitcher with great stuff force his way onto the Opening Day roster. Doesn’t matter how much experience you have if you have the stuff to get MLB hitters out. I’d be eyeing someone like Soriano or Bachman to do so.

Not enough choices.  Would have voted for this choice: "Well, sort of confident in an insecure way, but unsure of the uncertainty of the mild confidence I have, while retaining some hope of a positive surprise, but less hope than I would have had in previous years."

The Germans have a word for this, I think it's ungewissehoffnungsvollezuversicht.

Can you actually say ungewissehoffnungsvollezuversicht?

Apparently they're in on Britton. Hope they don't expect Oriole's Britton.

I like CRod as a pen piece. I also am very interested to see Weiss get his shot. His stuff is filthy.

Steve Phillips actually brought up a good point on MLB Network today. They have 4 lefties right now in the rotation, 5 if a guy like Bush slots in. They don't necessarily need more lefty relievers when Ohtani is the only RHP in the rotation. They will bring in a righty after the starters (probably), and then play matchups. Already have Loup and Quijada as good matchup guys, so I'd say get the best reliever you can regardless if he's a lefty or righty.

I am somewhat confident in that Perry got to pick his players this time and Nevin will run the pen per his instructions.  It will help but not solve all problems like lack of a true closer.  I think Tepera and Loup will be better and we'll actually get some contributions from the minors which we haven't had in forever prior to wantz and Barria.  And they'll get someone from the scrap heap to perform well this year.   Like Garza or Webb or Weiss or someone like that.

My only issue is that it could take some time to separate the wheat from the chaff.  because there are so many options.

If CRod and Bachman are healthy and pitch regularly in the BP, it will probably be quite good.  They may begin Bachman in the minors as a starter, but he gets brought up at some point as a reliever.  I wish we had a closer, but there were too many holes to fill.

People act like Iglesias was terrible before he was traded. He had a handful of bad outings that hurt his ERA, but he was still very good.

I somewhat agree with this Jason.  The outing he had in Philadelphia where he blew the save, was IMO, where Iglesias started to lose his confidence.  Before that game, he used to come out all fired up, and just throw gas mixed in with a few change ups.  After that game, he seemed to not be able to command his fastball, relied way to much on his off speed stuff, and paid for it.  His confidence was shaken and he was a totally different closer.

I do agree that he was still good though, his problem seemed more mental than anything.
