It would be exciting if it came down to Ohtani in the last game.   But I think the Angels close out at 4-2 at worst.  They are rolling now.

Not trying to overreact to this strong start by Soto but if he can be just average with the bat, with his defense he’d be one of the better utility infielders in the league at least.

so far from the eye test his defense has looked solid but not necessarily elite.

What a gem by Ohtani! Regardless if he gets beaten by Judge, his season has been one for the ages.  

It's all about expectations. In 1970 the Expos second year, the objective was to "win 70 in 70." And everyone was happy that they did. 

A realistic 2022  Angels objective was 80 - 85 wins. Maybe more if everything went right. So they will fall short of that expectation by between 5 - 10 games. Depending on the final half dozen games. 

Considering the long slump, managerial change, key long term injuries, it's realistic to see why they've fallen short. 

Disappointing but not disheartening. And the last couple of months have shown some realistic hope for next year. Plenty of time coming up for off season analysis, so I'll leave it there for now.

Got to like the way they play 100 lose teams tough. Having Loup give back two runs to one of the worst offensives in MLB was quite unexpected.  Can't blame Nevin for that.

5-2 the rest of the way would mean a winning record in the second half.   Not much but it would be the first time they post a winning record in the second half since 2016.
