Hopeful that whoever spends 2.5 billion or whatever it ends up being will want the team to be an instant contender and will immediately spend the necessary money to make up for a lack of talent

The thing we’ve all been hoping Arte would do the last few years

What if the new owner buys the Angels just to sabotage them?

I should have put this in this thread....

But I officially am hoping Steve Ballmer buys the Angels if he's interested.
He pays top $, has built a proper front office and most importantly, he lets them do their job.

Whoever does buy the team will be able to take the depreciations on a whole bunch of salaries....

You would think with Ohtani under contract that would increase the value of the team with all his potential international revenue streams.

Do it Arte. Sign him and leave a hero.

Actually, it's the opposite that usually happens when a team is sold.  Future contracts, no matter how marketable, are considered future debts for a team.  So to maximize the sellers profits, they cut payroll so that they can get the most $$.  I.E. $2 billion selling price, with $1 billion in future debt would net Arte less than $2 billion selling price and $400 million in future debt.  Also with the stadium deal going down in flames, this is the perfect time for him to sell.  Before incurring even more costs.  He may have to put $2 billion to develop the land, but it might just increase the selling price by half a billion or a billion.
