Pujols compared with Walsh

No.

You are missing the intent of the thread.

Nobody thinks the Angels should have resigned Pujols.

All of us should realize the experiment with Walsh is over.

This thread is about that.

I was just going off of Stradling's post.

I do agree with you. Unless Walsh figures shit out he needs to platoon, or get replaced entirely. We have Sunny D but he absolutely cannot play defense. So we'll have to look elsewhere. Maybe Thaiss gets a shot.

An .858 OPS, even though over 226 PAs and mainly vs LHP, is still crazy for age 42.

Still, you can’t platoon 1Bmen, when your DH appears in almost every game.   That wastes a roster spot.

Pujols’ partial resurgence begs the question.

Did he bring down the Halos?

Or did the losing bring him down?

Some of both?

It’s just stupid how he partially resurfaced, and Walsh tanked after strong 2020 and 2021 seasons and a solid first two months in 2022.

Is Walsh’s issue trying to do too much with the lack of hitting support?    Seems like more than a coincidence that the tanking started after Rendon was hurt?

I do see that Walsh still had a .750 OPS in June, albeit 100 pts off from May.   Could have not been pressing for a little while during the first month of losing, but then as it piled up, the pressure piled up more?   His OPS since July 1 is around .450!!!!!

Can’t give up on Walsh, have to see how he does in April/May next season with hopefully a healthier team in the lineup creating less pressure on him?

In the meantime, send DiChiara to fall league and work the heck out of him at 1B and ask him to lose 10-15 lbs?   Or is it a foregone conclusion that he isn’t a 1B?

How about earlier realization that it may have been a great platoon.  Albert looking good since leaving the angels because he hits almost all lefty pitching.  The dodgers unlocked that simple puzzle.

How?  There’s no DH position available for Albert and a short bench because of Shohei.  How can a team have two first base only guys?
