I love sci fi. And yet, there is 2 hours of my life I will never ever get back. Do not watch Jupiter Ascending. If you are a Channing Tatum fan. Do not watch it. If you are a Milas Kunis fan. Do not watch it. If you are dared to watch the movie or wander into ISIS controlled territory with a shirt that depicts mohammed in a negative way, chose to wear the shirt. The golden raspberry is already a guarantee. If you see it on DVD or for rent, don't bother. It might not even be worth the wear and tear on your DVR, even if it's on for free. If I had to make an Angels comparison. It would be like if Arte built a new billion dollar stadium, then picked out a random number of 10 year olds to make up the 25 man roster. The special effects tried to make up for the story. It tried, but only got to the level of Transformers. Hell, I wish I watched a transformers movie instead of this POS. And Transformers movies are POS's. I really really want to shoot myself, so that I can forget I ever saw this movie.

My movie watching for last month.

 

The Raid: Redemption - One of the better action movies I've seen in a while. 9/10
The Raid 2 - Bigger than the first one in every way, but that doesn't mean better. Still some great action sequences. 7/10
Mother -  Korean flick.  It leaves a lasting impression. 8/10
Birth of a Nation - It almost works as satire, but then it is not. So I guess the joke is on the filmmaker. I can't even rate this.
Force Majeure - I'm not sure who thought watching a couples marriage fall apart was entertainment, but it is not. 4/10
Predestination - laughably bad. 2/10
Chef - It has food porn, a road trip, some father-son bonding, a great soundtrack, plus it tickled my funny bone. 8.5/10
Whiplash - JK Simmons character is sort of a cross of Antonio Salieri and the drill instructor from Full Metal Jacket. 8/10

Watched Foxcatcher and fell asleep somewhere in there. Put it back to where I fell asleep at and fell asleep again.

Watching season 3 of House of Cards right now...I am only through 7 episodes. Definitely not up to par with the first two seasons.

Jinx: The life and deaths of Robert Durst on HBO

Very interesting series. Durst does a lot of blinking or squinting during the interviews. You really wonder what is going on inside his head.

I think the best reality show ever was The Joe Schmo Show. I only watched the first season though. Don't know if it continued after that.

Anybody else like the show Blue Bloods? I just started, I have been watching old episodes since its on WGN and ION. It's pretty good and they have strong actors in Tom Selleck and Bridget Moynahan. Even Donnie Wahlberg is pretty good in it.

The mole was a great reality show.  Trying to figure out who the mole was and everything.  I didn't realize it was Anderson Cooper who hosted it.

This was a strange film.  I liked it, but can see why many people did not.  It really delved into a lot of philosophical issues.  It's a very dark film.  And I thought Hugh Jackmans character kind of took away from the movie.  

 

It definitely has the feel of District 9/Elysium.  Not as good as District 9.  But about on par with Elysium.  Thinking about it more, most of the movie dealt with god and parent relationship and parenting questions, with right and wrong decisions that people make.  This definitely dealt with AI in a different way than how you see in movies.

Recently rewarched goodfellas and the departed. Both two of my faves. Pesci was great in goodfellas, and gets justified credit, but i think liotta was great too. He always seems to get overshadowed when people talk about it

Watched "Bosch" on amazon streaming. Good series, kind of like 'True Detective' without the pretentiousness. Has a 70s cop movie feel to it.
