"Rescue dog snaps, kills woman"

I picture a St Bernard, showing up w the whiskey barrel under its collar, to the trapped skiers. "Rescue dog"

Then they look close, and instead of "whiskey", it reads "cujo"

Who would play the zany neighbor in this masterpiece? Maybe someone like Jim Belushi?

Just before we left on vacation our Flat Lab Lylah started limping. It has happened before, she hops up the embankment in the back and lands wrong coming off it or gets a burr in her paw. We checked her paw, ankle, knee joint and she never flinched or whimpered but still limped. Our son was house sitting so we told him to watch her and take her to the Vet if she doesn't get better.

We left Saturday morning and on Tuesday we got a call that ruined part of our trip. X-ray scans shows she has Osteosarcoma, bone cancer. Dogs can't tell you when they are not feeling well and try and hide it from you. The cancer is advanced and I am taking her to a specialist on Wednesday to talk options but it looks like amputation all the way to the hip is the recommended course of action along with possibly chemo.

That sucks Blarg. Thankfully dogs do ok with only 3 legs it that cancer can’t be comfortable for her.

My grandfather raised and trained Golden Retrievers for hunting dogs and one of them hopped out of the pickup wrong, snapping his leg. The Vet wanted to put the dog down, the fracture beyond his ability to repair. My grandfather told him to save the dog so they agreed on amputation.

Cappy was one of the happiest dogs I've ever played with, he obeyed every command and had no problem getting around on three legs. He was a good fishing partner. That is my hopes for Lilah.

Sorry to hear that @Blarg.  I’m a huge animal lover, especially dogs, and I feel for you.  Hopefully there will be something that can be done like what you described with your grandfathers dog.  Keep us posted on Lylah.

A cute new (single) woman started in my office. She has a chocolate lab. "So do I," I said.

"We should take them to the dog park," she said.

"Or you could just bring yours over to my place," I replied. "I have several acres for them to explore without all those other annoying dogs."

"That sounds great," she said.

The only problem is that the chocolate lab I called mine isn't actually mine - it's my parents' dog and they live three hours away. So now I have to make the drive to borrow their dog. Unless you can rent them. Can you rent them?

Bang her first before you tell her about the dog

This sounds vaguely like a recent episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Lilah is back from the animal hospital. They said she was a great patient and started standing the moment the anesthesia wore off.

We picked her up at about noon and once she got home she took a walk around the house and yard with little assistance. She is drinking and snacking and loving the attention. She's already got an oxy addiction as the vet sent her home with 5 medications.

Dogs don't seem to mourn a lost limb and just get on with life. This was from the weekend just three days after surgery. Yesterday she took off after a squirrel taunting her from a tree. The only problem she has right now is getting up on slippery tile. Other than tiring out quickly she is pretty happy about the continued attention and extra treats. We hide her pills in them.

She’s probably really happy she doesn’t have the leg pain anymore

that's good to hear. hope her recovery continues to go well.

now go clean your pool . . .

Guilty. The pump motor crapped out when we took off on vacation and the dog took priority when we returned. I dumped $50 worth of chems in and tomorrow I rip everything apart and get it back working. It will be clear by Sunday.

Our Golden puppy is nuts.  She eats everything.  She eats drywall and rocks and bark chips and plastic toys.  Our other dog never was a big food motivated dog, so it's kind of shocking to us.  The other day I was like "what are you doing, how the fuck did you loosen the tile and pull up pieces of grout?" (Which she then eats, as well).

Yeah. This little fucker eats everything. I just put my whole savings into a house remodel, right before bringing this damn crocodile home.

Hoping the second one isnt as crazy, but not holding my breath.

Thats the best advice I think anyone can come up with.

You can also try digging a hole by your fence, and when she gets there pretend the dog escaped.

That way youre covered, and you might get sympathy sex.

You may have to sell it by taking a dump on your lawn before she gets there, though. No corn for a few days, dogs dont eat that.
