14? man, those guys better be working on their conditioning!

That was part of the appeal for LIV.  That it's not jam packed like the PGA, with various charity events every week.  You have the 14, plus the 4 majors, plus any other majors like the DP big tourney.  Not to say that they won't add more in the future.

World ranking rejects last-minute LIV Golf bid for points

Interesting tidbit in this.  it was said before that one of the requirements to get world ranking points was a tourney had to be 72 holes.

Quote

The MENA Tour stands for Middle East and North Africa and is a developmental tour that has been getting the bare minimum of world ranking points since 2016. It has 54-hole events with a 36-hole cut, offering a $75,000 purse. LIV Golf events have a $20 million purse for 54-hole events with no cut.

So couldn't sleep, so watched the LIV tournament last night.  BTW, they finish around 1 AM.  They are in Bangkok, oriental city.  What a weird track.  Rough looks like it improves the ball.  Fairways look like you could putt on them if you wanted.  Wide fairways.  Huge elevated greens.  Only divots were what was put there by the pros.  Long, like Dechambeau long (and surprisingly, he couldn't take advantage).  Hot and humid.   The leaderboard is a whose not.  It's crammed with everyone, except the big names are struggling.

Biggest mistake they have ever done on this tour so far.  And I shit you not about this.  But you know how they usually have music blasting?  Well at some point with a few holes left, some chick gets on the PA, and it sounded like they were having some sort of game show.  As a pro playing, it's one thing to have music.  You could swing to the beat.  It's another to have some chick yelling in Thai with random yelling and laughing.  It quickly turned into a Happy Gilmore scene.  You could tell the big names that were closest to the noise were having trouble with it.

I'll give you a like just for this.

Dang.  This is rough to watch.  Brandon Grace is one shot behind the lead on the 3rd hole.  Pulled it looks like a rib muscle.  And he's in pain for every swing he's making.  I've had one of those injuries, and it's not fun to swing a club.  It gets to a point where it hurts to breathe.

Was up early, and saw that Jedah was on for LIV.  They finish around 6:30-7 AM LA time.  Didn't see too many spectators.  But that seemed to be the case for every Friday LIV event.

Course looks interesting.  Similar to what you would find in Palm Springs.  But lots of water.  Looked like a fun course.

At one point the Koepka brothers were 1-2.  Brooks had a great round and finished 1st at 8 under.

Instead of music blaring like in the states, or a gameshow in Bangkok, they have a 10 foot tall woman (Ok, she was standing on a table.  Insert Deuce Bigalow reference.)  playing music on a violin.  It was actually pretty beautiful, relaxing, and kind of mesmerizing.

@arch stanton  Ok, maybe you can answer this for me.  Very few burka's or hijabs on women.  They had once scene where they had a bunch of women going to release balloons for breast cancer awareness, and only saw one with any type of headgear on.  In the gallery, didn't see any with headgear on the women.  Has this changed in Saudi?

REVEALED: REPORT DIVULGES LIV GOLF TOUR SPENDING SPREE EXPIRY DATE

This is actually pretty fascinating.

At this point, they are likely wanting to begin selling off their team franchises. This is how LIV plan to recoup its investment.

"Sorour said the PIF had funding for LIV through 2025. By then, he imagined, they would begin to cash out by selling off ownership in their 12 teams. The franchise model is how LIV plans to recoup its investment. Sorour envisions owners building home golf courses, like a stadium for a football team."

This might explain why teams are formed based on countries.  The possibilities are quite fascinating.  So a team would become a franchise.  The stadium would be a golf course.  So every year, the league would play at each teams home stadium.  I think this is really following the Formula 1 model as a worldwide league.  Of course it'll be interesting if players/teams ever get cut.

Good luck with that.

And envisioning racous, sell out crowds like they have at the Waste Management Tournament, complete with loud music and dancing girls.

At least that’s my vision.

Just think of all the cash that will be flowing in from selling merchandise for team 3 Putters.

Not PGA or LIV related, but a great story nonetheless

Currently #33 in the Golfcast college rankings, and still only a sophomore, with one of his LBSU teammates being the younger brother of Patrick Cantley.
