Knew what, exactly?  Francona covered what, exactly?

The Indians (Antonetti), previously claimed they had never heard anything about any sort of harassment.  That they had been floored by the accusations.   It's now pretty clear they were in fact aware.

This whole Calloway thing is icky. I don't care if he can turn every single Angels pitcher into Cy Frickin' Young, if he's doing the things he's been accused of, he's gotta go.  There's no gray area for me.

One Indians employee told The Athletic that Callaway's workplace behavior was "the worst-kept secret in the organization," and the wife of a player who was with the team in 2015 said Callaway was "just someone you wanted to stay away from."

There sure seem to be a lot of women who are in on this scam.  I wonder how they will split the book deal proceeds.

I'm gonna go watch some true crime shows, and I'll get back to you with the details.

He has a contract so, there may be more to it than that.

If he can show that none of what is coming up now has happened while in Anaheim and that none of it has anything to do with his work, then they would be firing for reasons outside of his ability as a coach.  So, unless he has some sort of morality clause in his contract he could sue not only for he is due but also claim his future earnings have been hindered by the Angels actions.

Basically, I think the Angels biggest concerns have more to do with what Callaway's lawyers may be able to argue.

And that's the biggest concern (I'm not concerned, just interested I suppose) here, is that the investigation may be taking as long as it is because

A. There's no proof.

B. It was consensual.

C. None of it occurred during working hours.

D. None of it occurred with the Angels.

Though it may not be directed at the Angels, the Angels would take the brunt of consequences here. Because if not than one of the above is indeed true, the Angels are between a rock and a hard place.

There's also the distinct possibility here that Callaway is telling the truth. That some of what is being reported are outright lies (wouldn't be the first time) and that he cheated on his wife when he wasn't with the Angels, in a completely consensual affair. If that's the case, they really can't or shouldn't fire him as much as they need to give him a long absence away from the team so he can focus on being the husband and father that he needs to be.

There's a lot that we don't know. We just need to see this play out, but it's clearly not a cut and dry thing that many posters here are making it out to be.

So you don’t really understand harassment.  It doesn’t have to happen during work hours.  It very well could be more along the lines of quib pro quo, information for sex.

Also I wonder, what the ratio of dick pics sent to dick pics requested is.  My guess is the request percent is pretty damn low.

It wasn't more than two years ago that that asshole Brandon Taubman was taunting a female reporter in the locker room.  And the entire Astros organization lied about what happened.  Until more and more people spoke up, and exposed their lies.

Get these assholes out of baseball.

He clearly has no idea what harassment is.  That’s fine not everyone has received training on it.  However, if you don’t know what it entails, probably don’t want to speak about it as if you are a position of authority on the subject.

You're just an SJW.

All of this reminds me what my close friend, who spent 10 years in majors told me.  We were talking about performance enhancing drugs and what was the most used.

He said, “Viagra”.

I was kind of surprised by this and he told me it’s because when they come back home from road trips the wives expect performance.

Just speaks to kind of the culture at the time (early 00”s).  Probably still goes on now.  He also said it was a limited number of players but that they all turned a blind eye.

I only say this because it speaks to the mentality of baseball in general.  You may not like what your teammates are doing, but you are certainly not going to say anything about it.

The Astros should have handled it internally. Going public about people's toxic behavior is never okay.

Here's a suggestion. The next time you and your wife get in a big fight, and you're sure she's being an asshole, go make a statement on your facebook. I'm sure that's the proper course of action, right?

Because somehow in your brain that is a decent comparison.

Of course not.

But if I were in a long-term abusive relationship in which the behavior was constant, and my family member was a public figure, and their behavior had implications beyond our own relationship, going public might be appropriate.
