I don't mind Ward as roster depth, nice to carry a third catcher, and 30 man roster gives you that flexability, also nice to have someone who can play multiple positions... but trading Trout's bat for Ward's is a pretty big stepdown.  I'd much rather see Adell making his MLB debut tonight.  There's no MiLB for him to play, and I believe we're past the date at which service year accrues, so there's fairly little downside now.  Is nice to see Rengifo in there, tho.
