I don't see any way that the NFL runs it without a crowd. The whole point is to make a big deal about the Raiders moving here and to show off the NFL's newest stadium. The NFL is too much into hype to hold something that isn't a TV event. They will just delay it.

I think they will hold it with fewer people attending.  Each row will only have 2 people, one far left, one in the middle.

Imagine the demand.

With no income tax Nevada's biggest revenue sources are sales tax, taxes from casinos/hotels and alcohol/tobacco taxes.  A state that relies on tourism is going to get hammered the longer this goes on.

Hawaii is going to take a hit.

Consumer spending accounts for about 70% of the US economy.  Restaurants, stores and so on being closed is going to hurt while discretionary industries like Vegas, cruises and so on are going to take the biggest beating.  Hopefully the measures they're taking now work as intended and in so many weeks the number of positive cases are decreasing.  Long term I still don't know how this plays out because the virus isn't going to disappear and I'm not doctor but I imagine it takes a while to build up a herd immunity to something that's new.

MGM Resorts announced they will be suspending operations effective tomorrow. I expect the rest of the casinos to follow. Vegas, Reno and Laughlin are going to be hit hard.

Wynn also announced they are suspending operations.

Man, and just when Vegas got over the last recession.  This is going to hit them extremely hard.  At least some were still working back then.

This came just as the hotels were gearing up for March Madness and the NFL Draft crowd. NASCAR was just here about three weeks ago. Now, nothing on the boards and nobody in the hotels.

My salary comes from state tax revenue. I am wondering how long it will be before we start getting furloughed. That will be tough to cover if we start having people out for two weeks at a time recovering from this.

And then the prison system breaks down, and now we have a plot for ConAir 2.

That is a major concern. If we start having widespread absences, we can't just close down like some businesses are doing. Certain functions have to continue regardless. This was a major topic of discussion at the last administrative staff meeting.

This shit is getting out of control. The little Target I go by my house, which usually has more employees than customers, has it shelves of food completely cleaned out.

I had no idea Target sold beer.

It's everywhere. I was tasked with finding a bag of flour today. Three different stores had none. I found a bag that held maybe a quarter of what a bag of Gold Medal holds for $4.99 at Sprouts.

I was joking of course, but I do agree that the cascading effects of various industries shutting down/limiting staff in the coming weeks could get pretty serious. Especially in certain industries where there isn’t a ton of remote work ability or skill redundancy among employees. Like I think of the company I work for... there are a couple of fairly low-level guys that if we lost would basically ruin our productive capability fairly quickly.
