espn reporting on it. showed a still of the video. dude just walked up behind him and fired into his back.

out of surgery and doctors say he's doing fine and out of danger. no organs affected, and a full recovery is expected.

no.  he'd have missed completely but his bullet would have been redirect over a nearby fence.

Hated that cheating jackass when he was on the Red Sox. I hope he has a full recovery and can get back to his life with his family with no long term side effects.

My dislike for him on the Red Sox aside, this is scary stuff and I wish him the best. He seems like a nice guy who's doing good things for the community.

I love the fact that after Ortiz was targeted, the patrons in the bar went over and not only detained the shooter, they beat his ass so bad the Dominican cops couldn't even interview him until he recovers.
