Played brackenridge yesterday. Went 40 and 40 for an 80. Very fun course.

Interesting history in the course. It is an A.W. Tillinghast design and the course was the first public course in the state of Texas and it had some of the oRiginal stone bridges. He is the designer of bethpage, baltusrol, and winged foot. Greens were all mounds well above your head. Green side bunkers in every hole that had huge faces that were above your head. Lots of rectangle greens too. Lots of old charm.

 

guessing i could shoot a 58 or 59 there.

59 is the course record. I did not look at the name of the golfer, i just assumed you had played it.

Good round there, have broken 80 a few times but normally if I am headed under 80 there 16 with the big tree right in front of you messes me up. I never get that tee shot laid up right.  I never paid attention but thinking about it you are right, all the greens are built like an ant pile.

I like the Quarry better because Brack is still laid out like a muni course, guess they were all like that back then.  Probably too hot still to go to the Quarry though.  You get in the pit there on the back side and there is no wind or trees.

Quarry did not have any tee times. They had a tourney. I was happy with brackenridge though plus the history was fun to see

played nine holes today with my 7 year old boy and 4 year old girl.  Shot a 37.  My boy got his first legit birdie today.  He chipped in from about 50 yards on a par 3.  He was going crazy.  I don't know if he was more excited that he got his first birdie or he finally beat dad on a hole.  Good times.  The best part is that he can not wait to go back.

Played Temecula Creek on Sunday.  Shot a 51/44=95.  Birdied 16, it had been a while since my last birdie so I did a fun little dance.

Played with a guy who was only playing 9 from the whites and shot 40.  Moved to the blues on the back and shot 39.  White and blues are always about the same for me.  Getting up and down and making putts is where you score.

Anyone interested in playing Willowick this weekend? Sunday might work better for me and would probably be less crowded with football on TV. $35 after 11:30 which includes a cart, hot dog and soda.

Range finder at Lake forest? I would probably test it at a real course. Very important to get dialed in on the 120-190 range. Not the 45 yard range

So now you should be able to shoot in the low 120s? Sweet.

Just bring a ruler or tape measurer and you should be golden....
