If there is an opportunity for a value signing, by all means yes.

Moustakas will get a multi year deal imo. Interesting that the Angels have thrown their name into the ring of candidates this late into the off season ... knowing that he’s a Boras client. 

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Angels offered him a three year deal close to $30M. Bour is on a one year deal which allows Moose to move to 1B in 2020 if needed.

We get another year of arb control of Bour even though we signed him as a FA.  

I think the only reason we'd be in on Moustakas is for a 1yr deal.

Would put more pressure on Bour to earn a job - not just competing with Pujols/Thaiss/Walsh, but the 2B/3B guys as well since Moose can play 1B.

man I'd be down with this signing. He would have been with us already as of last year had he signed the multi year. I'm not sure he'd get more than 1 year maybe 2 though

I don't think based on the climate we are seeing he is going to get a 3 year deal.

I think he gets one or two years.

But who knows, right?

Aren't you guys ever going to learn? Heyman has been Boras' PR firm for the last ten plus years. Every time Boras needs some negotiation help he has Heyman say there is another party interested. In this case he throws out the Angels because they have no specific 3rd baseman but 6 guys to play the infield.

Eppler says they are done, then Heyman says they are in on Moustakas, a guy they could have picked up when the off season started and didn't. It's because Eppler isn't interested. Not then and not now.

I think this is probably right. I'd like to see it - putting Trout, Ohani, Moose, Upton together starts to look pretty dangerous, but...I'd be surprised if we signed Moose.

Unless that quote from Eppler was him bargaining with Moose, trying to send the message that we won't be paying big money for him.

Why a 1 year deal ? Moustakas is only 30 yrs old ... either you want him or not. It’s not like we have a player of his caliber waiting in the wings.

Moustakas would be the difference between playoff spot and no playoffs in my opinion. We're a RH heavy lineup and with Cozart slated for 3B we have a gaping hole over there. This would force Cozart over to 2B where he profiles better defensively, and in essence would force him into a situation where he needs to outperform Fletcher and Rengifo, and that's just not going to happen. Cozart would still start, but he'd be injured or replaced by June.

This move would deepen and balance out the lineup, and also provide insurance for the Bour/Pujols timeshare that's destined for failure.

He got a one year deal last year at 29, returning to the team he had played his entire career with.  Why overpay, If you can get him for one year, why not assume less risk?  Then again, he is a bottom feeder based on his contract last year.
