The “buzz” at the start of the offseason was 4/5 years 60-80 million....rarely has the buzz been so wrong...so yes, Boras might have rejected the offer, if it happened.......

Not if Boras believed that he could squeeze someone else for more. It wouldn't be the first time that he has misjudged the market for a player.

I would trust Tim over Boras, obviously....but it’s a little bit of a game with negotiating...you sometimes discuss parameters without making an “offer”....sometimes you come out firing with an offer or offers (Torii Hunter)....hard to know what went down...but I do think we had interest (I’m guessing) and we know Boras screwed things up royally (fact)....

Moose has had a OBP in the .310's for 2 consecutive years. I don't think Fletcher is a full time 2B, but  he plays good defense and is getting paid the min. We've already stretched our budget too.

Eppler values OBP and defense - people need to get over the Moustakas wish. He's not coming.

While I agree, Mous would have been top 5 in OBP last year on the team.  Trout, Ohtani, Upton and Simmons all ahead of him.  I don’t think Moustakas is great, but he is pretty much a known commodity.

If we went over budget with Allen how are we going to sign Moose? He had a worse year than his 2017 when he got $6.5M. If he was willing to sign for $3-5M then maybe the value is too good to pass up, I still think Eppler might pass even on that price though.

Well it is a self induced budget.  So if there is any truth to the rumor that we are talking to him we obviously do not have a firm budget.

You think Eppler will sign Moustakas if he is available for $4M? I don't think he would, he'd look at a combo of Fletcher/Rengifo at $1M as better value.

If Dozier/Schoop/Lemahieu can get what they got it will be kind of sad if Moose signs for less than those guys.

Like I said, if there is any truth to the rumor.  If the rumor is true then we aren’t done spending if we can get him at our price.  I have no idea what that price is, but it is logical to think the offer has to be something in the ball park of something Moustakas would consider.

I would caution calling any player elite after less than half a season. .
